Anna Le Fevre
Business Manager
SciMed team member since 2022
What's your specialist subject?
Numbers! A bit unconventional, but I actually trained to be an accountant. Before I joined SciMed, I worked for Condé Nast for 9 years as a Financial Accountant. I was also responsible for the cash - give me a bank reconciliation any day!
How did you get into the healthcare technology industry?
I had worked as an accountant since leaving university, working in various industries, but I wanted a change. I wanted to join a small business, so I could gain exposure in all areas of how that business works. SciMed was already well established when I joined, but it’s been great to be able to offer my skills and make my role my own.
What do you like most about working about working at SciMed?
The team are lovely, and it’s been fascinating learning about their research and papers that have been published. The work that the team do really makes a difference to our clients and their products and, in turn, users and patients. It feels great to be a part of that.
What challenges do you think the healthcare technology industry face, and how would your expertise deal with that?
The medical device industry has faced lots of change over the last few years, particularly following Brexit. Manufacturers need to adhere to new and increased regulations for their products, across (often) different markets. Technology is advancing fast, so they need to be quick to adapt to provide innovative and safe solutions for their users. We have a great team here at SciMed, who are experts in their field and up to date with the latest developments. I, personally, do not deal with the technical side of things, however I do help to oversee all of the projects and ensure they run smoothly. Often our clients are under a lot of time constraints, and I help to make sure everything is delivered on time and any issues communicated. I also work closely with Alastair, to identify your needs, and ensure we are offering the best service and products.
If you could have a scientist for dinner (past or present), who would it be and why?
It would only be right to choose a mathematician. I would love to have dinner with Katherine Johnson, as the idea that an equation could work out a flight path and landing position of a space craft absolutely blows my mind. She achieved so much over her life, despite discrimination she would have experienced as a Black female, and I think she’s an incredible role model.
